Michael Andrew - Outstanding Achievement Award
Michael Andrew (BCom 1972 LLB 1978)
Michael was Chairman and CEO, KPMG International, from May 2011 to July 2014. He is the first Australian to be CEO of one of the 'big four' accounting firms. Michael led KPMG's member firm network which employs 155,000 professionals in 156 countries with a turnover of US$25 billion. He was a member of KPMG's Global Board and Council since 2007 and the Global Public Policy Committee of the Accounting profession since 2010. Michael has degrees in Law and Commerce from the University of Melbourne. He is a qualified Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He was recently awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws by Monash University and an Honorary Doctor of Commerce by the University of Melbourne. Michael has recently been appointed Chairman of the Board of Taxation. He was Chair of the Australian B20 Working Group on Anti-Corruption and Transparency and its Global CEO Forum. Michael has been a regular speaker around the globe at Davos, Boao Forum and St Petersburg on key issues in respect of economic growth, business development and corporate governance and has Global Influencer status on LinkedIn. A partner in KPMG since 1988, Michael practiced in Tax Law and was Partner in Charge of KPMG Tax Practice from 1995-2000 and was Partner in Charge of KPMG International Tax Centre in Amsterdam from 1992-1994. Michael was Chairman of KPMG Asia-Pacific and Chairman, KPMG Australia from 2007 until 2011. He was only one of two Australians to be a member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum, the International Advisory Board for the Moscow International Financial Centre, the Business Council of Australia, as well as sitting on the Steering Committee of the United Nations Global Compact. He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China. Michael has a strong record of philanthropy as a board member of Good to Great Schools, helping Noel Pearson raise standards of Indigenous education. Michael was a former board member of Jawun Indigenous Corporate Partnerships; Vice Chair, Committee for Melbourne; Chairman, Business Council Education Taskforce; Inaugural Chair, Schools Connect and the Dowd Foundation; and Committee Member of the Olivia Newton John Cancer Foundation and the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Council. With a keen interest in sports, Michael was Treasurer of Melbourne Cricket Club, Chairman of the National Sports Museum and Committee Member of Melbourne Racing Club.

Yasmin Allen - Leadership Award
Yasmin Allen (BCom 1985)
Yasmin Allen grew up in Western Victoria. She was schooled at Hamilton College and then the University of Melbourne, where she resided in St Hilda's College. Following a chance meeting with Ian Syme (owner of the Age and a partner of a stockbroking firm) she started work at Australia's oldest broker, Hattersley Maxwell Noall (formerly William Noall & Sons). In 1987 Yasmin worked briefly on the exchange floor when there was still a stock exchange in Melbourne, gaining a lifelong appreciation of markets and equities. Realising her interest was in understanding the drivers of corporate value, she moved into equity research at Hattersley in Sydney. When Hattersley was acquired by a UK merchant bank Yasmin took the opportunity to move to London. She joined James Capel (part of the HSBC Group), then the largest broker in Europe, advising institutional investors across Europe and the US and helping some of the UK's largest listed companies access markets and structure balance sheets. In 1993 Yasmin returned to Australia to work on the float of Qantas for ANZ Securities. It was an opportune time to return, and that was when she met her husband Nicholas Allen. Together they have three children, Madison India and Orlando. In 2001, after working at director level at ANZ Investment Bank and then as Vice President of Deutsche Bank, she joined the board of Australia's Federal Government export bank, EFIC, and then Macquarie Group's Global Infrastructure Funds board, where she became Chairman from 2009 to 2014. In 2004 she became a non-executive director of Insurance Australia Group (IAG). She is also a non-executive director of Cochlear. Yasmin is a director of Santos and a National Director of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, where she is also a Fellow. Yasmin understands that the SME and NFP sectors form a significant part of our wealth and social inclusion. She spent 10 years on the board of the Salvation Army and recently became a director of the George Institute for Global Health. Yasmin has always enjoyed the arts; she is a collector herself and is an Ambassador to the MCA and was a founding member of the AGNSW Women in the Art Gallery group. She was previously a director of Film Australia and now sits on the board of the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra.In February 2015, Yasmin joined the board of the ASX, a full circle to that first stint on the floor of the Melbourne stock exchange almost 30 years ago.

Prof Jeff Borland - Outstanding Contribution to Faculty or University Award
Professor Jeff Borland (BA Hons 1982 MA 1985)
Professor Jeff Borland is Truby Williams Professor of Economics at the University of Melbourne. He has a BA (Hons) in Economics and History from the University of Melbourne, and a PhD in Economics from Yale University. He has been a member of the Department of Economics since 1988. Jeff is a well-loved lecturer in the Faculty. Throughout his career he has taught core subjects in microeconomics, most recently at first-year level for over a decade. Jeff has introduced and taught subjects in game theory, business applications of economics, world economic history, Australian economic history, and sports economics. His textbook Microeconomics: Case Studies and Applications is used presently at several Australian universities. Jeff has been co-organiser of the annual FBE Student Leadership Forum since its inception in 2007, and is actively involved working with several FBE student clubs. At the University of Melbourne, Jeff has been a recipient of the Ed Brown University Teaching Prize and the Dean's Award for Individual Teaching, and at Yale University he was awarded the Raymond Powell Prize for Excellence in Teaching. In 2007 he was awarded an Australian Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning. Jeff's main research interests are the operation of labour markets in Australia, program and policy evaluation and design, Australian economic history, and sports economics. His research has been published in many leading international and Australian journals. In 1997 Jeff was awarded the Australian Academy of Social Sciences Medal for Excellence in Scholarship, and in 2002 was made a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. He was co-Editor of Economic Inquiry from 2010 to 2014, and between 1998 and 2002 was Editor of the Economic Record. In 2010 Jeff was Visiting Professor of Australian Studies at Harvard University, a position established through a gift of the Australian Government in 1976 to encourage teaching, research and publication promoting awareness and understanding of Australia in the United States. Jeff was Head of the Department of Economics from 2003 to 2006, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Commerce from 2007 to 2009, and has been Chair of several Academic Board committees. Jeff gives many talks to community and professional bodies. He has acted as a consultant to organisations such as the OECD, IMF, Productivity Commission and ACCC on policy issues including inequality, unemployment, pay equity, and active labour market programs, and has been a member of the Commonwealth Treasury Academic Reference committee.

Jeremy Burke - Rising Star Award for Young Alumni
Jeremy Burke (BCom 2003)
Jeremy Burke has been instrumental in launching the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB). GIB is a globally unique organisation set up by the UK Government to accelerate the UK's transition to a low carbon economy. Its model is now being replicated across the world, including Australia. The organisation is publicly funded but operationally independent. Jeremy has been Finance Director since the Bank launched in November 2012 Jeremy has developed the governance and financial structures so the Bank can operate as a for-profit private sector entity, under government ownership, while becoming an enduring institution through the introduction of private capital. Jeremy's accounting and finance background, combined with his environmental credentials, have equipped him to play a key role in delivering this strategically important institution. Born and raised in Melbourne, Jeremy completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Melbourne. He has a strong academic and professional record; including making the Dean's Honours list for academic excellence in 1998, being the Chartered Accountants Program's Victorian candidate of the year in 2003 and becoming a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in 2013. Jeremy's career has taken him around the globe as he has worked with start-ups, entrepreneurs and SMEs. He chose to start his career in Melbourne at Pitcher Partners where he was given his first taste of financial services through a secondment to New York. He moved to listed financial services group IWL Limited where he was financial controller in both the financial software and online broking divisions. Jeremy relocated to London in 2007 where has worked with private sector organisations and central government departments. Jeremy has been actively involved on environmental issues for the past decade. He has worked for UK based clean tech and forestry investors and been involved with Sandbag Climate Campaign, a UK NGO campaigning for improvements in emissions trading schemes, and Australia's Alternative Technology Association, which promotes sustainable choices for homes and communities.Jeremy maintains a personal interest in and commitment to improving young people's life chances. He worked on the 2011 Family Justice Review, whose recommendations will fundamentally improve the UK's family justice system, and is chair of governors at London based Grange Primary School.
